Recognizing their special bond, the communities of Abilene, Kansas, Denison, Texas and Gettysburg, Pennsylvania will unite for a special week of celebrating their common former resident, Dwight D. Eisenhower. Join in the fun as we explore “Ike-sites” throughout Washington, D.C. and Gettysburg, PA.

Trip Itinerary

May 4-9, 2020

Monday, May 4 – Our tour begins with a welcome Reception and dinner with special speaker Mary Jean Eisenhower, Ike’s granddaughter.

Time: 7:00 pm

Location: Library of Congress

Cost: $75.00 (includes dinner) SOLD OUT

Tuesday, May 5 – We will travel by motor coach for a full day trip to Gettysburg, PA. Trip includes: a visit to Gettysburg College, guided tour with Mary Jean Eisenhower of the Eisenhower National Historic Site, driving tour of other “Ike-sites” and dinner at the historic Dobbin House.

Departure: 8:00 a.m. from group hotel

Cost: $150 (includes meals, admission and transportation)

Wednesday, May 6 and Thursday, May 7 – Tour of Washington, D.C. sites including the White House, memorials and the Smithsonian Museums. Please note the White House tours require a background check and may be subject to last minute cancellation.

Note: White House Tours cannot be scheduled until three months from arrival. Once approved, we will have 7 days to submit names, date of birth, social security numbers, gender and residence of each member of the group.

Friday, May 8 – See the newly completed Eisenhower Memorial and visit Arlington National Cemetery.

Saturday, May 9 – Travel home.


Trip Details

Deadline and Details – January 30, 2020 deadline for commitment, ticket purchases, and information for background check is due. Anything after this date will be based on chance. Limited availability, if any, is expected. Tour(s) requiring background checks may not be available after this date.

Lodging – Headquarters hotel – Holiday Inn Capitol, 550 C Street SW, Washington, D.C., 20024. Ph: 1-877-572-6951..

Anyone can make other lodging arrangements on their own, but group tours will originate from the headquarters hotel.

Note: Hotel is one block from the Eisenhower Memorial.

Transportation – Travel to Washington, DC is the responsibility of each person. Plan to arrive in DC by 5 pm on Monday, May 4 to join us for the welcome reception.
